The creator of Shenmue, Yu Suzuki, is currently working on a new game which will arrive on both Android and iOS later this year. Called Gan! Gan! Pirates, this is an ocean going pirate themed shooter that also combines quite a few social gaming elements as well.
Following the standard arcade style shooter, you will be in charge of shooting away at enemies but instead of flying around in some futuristic ship or old WWII plane, you’ll be cruise the waters on a ship which will be doing all the shooting instead. While there will be social gaming elements involve, Gan! Gan! Pirates will also feature co-op multiplayer where you and other players can team up and help each other survive.
Of course if you are not of a giving nature you can also compete competitively against other players to see who gets to kill powerful bosses in the game. We are going to take a guess and say that if you win the chance to kill some of the bosses in this fashion that there are rewards for being successful.
As far as shooter games go, Gan! Gan! Pirates is certainly a little off the beaten path with the whole pirate ocean warfare theme. It’ll be interesting to see how it all works together. This game will land on both Android and iOS this September and will be a free-to-play titles, supported with in-game purchases.
