A great little futuristic arcade adventure game arrived on Google Play yesterday from Lightstorm3D called Gene Effect. This game is a side-scrolling arcade game that features some rather interesting game mechanics not generally found in these types of side-scrolling arcade games. Also it looks pretty slick visually as well should you enjoy plenty of eye candy in your games.
What Gene Effect isn’t is a side-scrolling arcade shooter. This doesn’t mean you won’t be shooting at anything of course but it certainly isn’t an action packed shooter with ships coming at you constantly and you having to shoot your way through them. What Gene Effect is, however, is a rather cool exploration arcade game where you control a mining ship that is sent in to the mines to find another missing mining ship.
You will also be collecting resources along the way and at times you’ll need to enable alien technology to proceed further into the dungeon. There also happens to be a lot of natural defenses located in the mines that you will have to figure out how to overcome whether it be shooting them with a missile or using other means to get through them. Puzzles are also scattered throughout the mines which, if solved correctly, unlock hidden areas which contain rare items like relics and artifacts.

There are some other unique features to Gene Effect such as the music player that comes with the game which, if you unlock all the tracks to the game’s soundtrack, you can use to listen to them all. Also the environment is interactive and contains destructible objects to add a layer of interactivity to the game. Lastly, everything is randomly generated so every time you play the game it will be different than the last.
