Genshin Impact 4.0 is now available to play! The long-awaited version is finally out, meaning you can start to explore Fontaine – the Hydro region. Yes, this means that the Hydro archon will be making an appearance.

For more information about the Genshin Impact, visit the game’s official website. You can also download the game on Google Play – but prepare for a large update if you didn’t download the pre-installation!

Time to Swim!

The biggest change to Genshin Impact is the exciting underwater exploration that has been implemented in 4.0. Luckily, your time under the water isn’t dependent on a stamina bar. However, you do need to keep an eye on the blue bar that runs out as you sprint while swimming.

Underwater Combat

The underwater areas also include action-packed combat that works a little differently from the usual battles on land. You can utilise the basic attack, named “Transoceanic Sourcewater” as well as a range of other special abilities.

Transoceanic Sourcewater allows you to borrow an attack from your enemy, making combat feel fresh and adaptable. You’ll have to search for some of the abilities to increase your power! It’s best to form a party of characters that have Arkhe. The type of Arkhe can differ between each character, with some using Light and others using Dark.

New Characters

With the release of 4.0, you can obtain Lyney or Yelan via the limited-time banners. Lyney, the new 5-star, is a Pyro bow user who is the twin brother of Lynette. The new 4-star sword user, Lynette, is given to players for free. Although, you can earn more of her constellations by pulling on the banner.

The inclusion of underwater movement and combat won’t be for everyone, but it’s a breath of fresh air for the open-world RPG.
