[Updated] Gold rush city management sim called 1849 coming to Android tablets this May

Android gamers who enjoy playing their games on tablets have yet another game heading their way in a couple of months. Instead of a MOBA like we just reported on earlier today, this one is an interesting gold rush city themed sim / city management game called 1849.

Update April 15th, 2014 11:01am PST: Just a quick update that this game is now available in an early access form on all the platforms that is will be released on. Aside from PC and Mac, this also includes mobile which means Android as well ( early access is now officially on Google Play and the cost is $2.99). Before people get excited, when it comes to the mobile early access it is only available in Australia and New Zealand. We’ve added the appropriate links below.

1849 is actually themed around the gold rush that happened that year in California and is being developed by SomaSim. The developers have researched and brought all the hazards of the gold rush from back them and made it into a city management game where you will also have to dig for gold in order to be successful. This game doesn’t just take place in one location either. 1849 actually has 20 real Gold Rush-era cities, each with unique topography and natural resources that influence how they grow.

In terms of city management mechanics, players will have to build mines, establish farms, attract workers and keep them happy, set up trade networks and other duties that you would need to take care of when running a city. Of course you’ll also want to get as much gold as possible.

1849 will feature both a campaign mode as well as an endless sandbox mode, so once you complete the campaign mode, you can still play the game which will have plenty of dynamic content to go through.

While this game is slated for release onto Android tablets this May, there is actually an early access available for PC right now for $9.99 over on Indie Gamestand.
