Google Play on occasion promotes apps and games of different stripes for different reasons. Sometimes they are seasonal or have a purpose, like the summer sale that is currently happening, others are arbitrary. Currently, there’s a promotion going on for games that can be played offline.
Unfortunately today, many games require internet access in order to serve ads or for anti-piracy purposes. While both of those (and any other reasons) might be valid, it still create can create a bit of a hassle for gamers. Travel is an obvious case where this could be problematic, as traveling on an airplane or in a subway, or other places where your internet service might be sketchy would be prove prohibitive for gaming purposes.
In my case, my tablet is Wifi only. That would restrict my options for where and when I can game on it with games that require internet access. That reason alone, I’m grateful to see Google promote in Google Play games that don’t require that permission. Here’s the link to those games.
