Grisaia: Phantom Trigger, the kinetic visual novel series is now available on Android. Crunchyroll has added it to its mobile Game Vault. In case you don’t know, the series is split into eight volumes. As of now, Crunchyroll has added Volumes 1 to 5. So, there are three more to come.
The visual novel series delivers its story in a focused, cinematic way. The project sees returning artist Akio Watanabe and writer Ryuta Fujisaki together expand the Grisaia universe with a new storyline and cast.
Each instalment of Grisaia: Phantom Trigger continues to build on the missions of Mihama Academy’s unusual students. They train under the banner of SORD, Social Ops, Research & Development, where live weapons and national defense are a part of their daily curriculum.
Let’s get into the story, one by one
Vol. 1 introduces the foundation of SORD, with Mihama Academy transforming into a training ground. You get to know its purpose, along with the new cast which includes Rena, known as the Rabid Dog, Tohka the sniper, Chris the demolitions expert, and Murasaki the spy. Vol. 2 delivers their first big mission with a missing VIP and shows Rena and Haruto (their handler)’s first meeting. The disappearance drags the SORD unit into a mission that quickly evolves into a lethal manhunt. Check out this chapter on the Play Store.
Vol. 3 shifts focus to Tohka, adds new allies, and explores her past during an overseas mission. While Rena and Maki are recovering from injuries, the remaining SORD members are sent overseas for the pursuit of a rogue agent. You can grab this volume here.
Vol. 4 brings in new recruits Megumi and Taiga, with Chris taking the spotlight during a terror attack. The relationship between Chris and Taiga develops as both learn to rely on one another. Check out this chapter on Google Play.
Vol. 5 follows the Kitaoka University incident and dives into Murasaki’s insecurities after her sister Yuuki returns. The contrast between the sisters brings personal conflict into a world already filled with firefights and covert operations. Get this volume from the Google Play Store.
