Koei Tecmo and Ruby Party are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Harukanaru Toki no Naka de in a big way. They announced a brand-new entry for mobile called Harukanaru Toki no Naka de: Ryuuguu no Miko. The series first started on the original PlayStation in 2000.

The good news is that pre-registration is already open for the otome adventure RPG. But unfortunately, it will only be released in Japan. The game is targeting a December 15 launch date. There’s no word on a global version yet.

What’s the story?

The latest chapter pulls you into Ryugu, a city beneath the waves ruled by the dragon god. You play as a modern-day university student who is swept into the otherworld after a violent storm during a voyage to Dan-no-ura.

As monsters flood the sky, a man in a kimono named Kiyomori saves you, pledging his guidance as he carries you into the sea. From there, you are chosen as the Divine Child. Your duty is to protect the flow of time and space alongside the Eight Leaves, heroes drawn from different eras of Japanese history.

Life in Ryugu has both ordinary and extraordinary moments. You live together with the Eight Leaves and have daily interactions like conversations that shift with the season. You build bonds through small details before heading into larger struggles.

The romantic angle in Harukanaru Toki no Naka de: Ryuuguu no Miko is central. You can shape relationships as friendships or love stories, depending on your choices. There are everyday moments like sleeping beside your chosen hero or hearing his voice as he drifts off add a softer intimacy.

Each of the Eight Leaves is connected to a different historical period, including the Heian, Sengoku, and late Edo eras. Travelling to their times becomes a core part of the narrative. These trips bring you face to face with maddened gods.

If you’re in Japan, you can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store. If not, check out the latest trailer for now.
