Pre-downloads are open for the global release of Higan: Eruthyll, giving you a chance to beat the rush to play on launch day, and possibly show BiliBili’s servers a bit of mercy. You can get on that now via Google Play.

The game drops officially on April 6, for regions not covered by the recent soft launch.

With the release date fast approaching, the pre-registration isn’t the only interesting news. The official YouTube Channel released a video showcasing a collaboration with the VTuber agency NIJISANJI EN.

Some Beloved VTubers Make An Appearance

The story trailer features an all-new song performed by the ‘Limited Collab Troupe’, VTubers Elira Pendora, Enna Alouette, Maria Marionette, and Pomu Rainpuff.

It also shows plenty of intriguing plot content, so it’s worth trying to puzzle out.

Higan: Eruthyll is a tactical RPG rendered in a gorgeously pretty 3D art style. It follows a protagonist known as the Director. This hero finds themselves in a fantasy world without much memory of their own arrival.

The protagonist finds a place with the Gopher Troupe, a band of able fighters shunned due to their status as ‘Castaways’. Castaway people do not resonate with a big holy crystal as most people in the world do. This is sure to lead to some great secrets, and you’re along for the ride.

Simple, But Not Necessarily Easy

Higan: Eruthyll has a simple-to-learn, but hard-to-master battle system where you, as the Director, arrange your squad on a grid-based battlefield.

Different characters fulfill different roles in the lineup and also have different elemental alignments that determine where they excel or struggle in battle. Positioning is also key. Some attacks have an AoE that makes grouping enemies together beneficial, but it can work both ways.

Similarly, some powerful enemy attacks begin to build over multiple moves, making it possible to try to interrupt their attack before it hits, or play it safe and get your buddies out of harm’s way.
