Hitori no Shita: The Outcast Release Date Edges Nearer With An Unreal Trailer

Feature image for our Hitori no Shita: The Outcast release date news. It shows a cutscene form the game with an enemy launching toward the player.

A Hitori No Shita: The Outcast release date is on everyone’s mind as a trailer with gameplay footage has just dropped, and the visuals look absolutely stunning. The trailer, shown on IGN’s YouTube channel, demonstrates an impressively seamless transition between cutscenes and gameplay. It gives us a look at some exploration, combat, and quick-time events.

A weird, uncanny-valley doll-like creature appears at the player character’s door, and he, maybe unwisely, follows it out onto a rooftop where several of the creatures attack him.

Fighting involves hand-to-hand combat, magic, and using one of the creepy constructs as a human shield to absorb gunshots from another. Human shield might be a generous term. A killer marionette shield seems more appropriate.

Punches And Paranormal Puppets

Hitori No Shita: The Outcast is a game, based on an anime, based on a Chinese webcomic called Under One Person. It follows the story of Chō Soran (or Zhang Chulan in the comic), a young man who inherited a highly unusual martial arts ability called Kitaigen.

His father mistreated him for using his ability, but his grandfather trained him to master it. After his grandfather dies and his grave is robbed, Chō discovers more about his family’s secrets.

If you stick around until the end of the trailer, the developer has also included some behind-the-scenes clips, demonstrating some of the motion capture work that went into the animations.

Caution Is Your Friend

Obviously, a healthy amount of skepticism is always your friend when it comes to game trailers. The trailer looks amazing, but making something awesome to watch and having something fully playable is very different.

When Is The Hitori No Shita: The Outcast Release Date?

There’s no word on a Hitori No Shita: The Outcast release date yet, so things could all be subject to change.

We’ll be moderating our excitement with the sense to wait and see how all this comes together in the final product.
