Adorable racer KartRider: Drift pre-download has kicked off today, with a chance to beat the rush at launch and get playing as soon as the game drops on January 12th. You can check out the exact times on the official site.

The pre-season will kick off with the exclusive Model Student Diz character available to anyone who plays in the first season. There are also-platform specific skins for the Bazzi or Brodi characters, and the Android skin’s bouncy Play logo antennae make us confident we chose the right platform.

Ticket To KartRide

KartRider: Drift is a free-to-play cross-platform kart racer, with cute, toony characters. You can play with friends on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles, which is always a bonus.

The game also leans heavily on the ability to personalize your character and ride. There’s a wealth of customization options available to make your racer and vehicle your own.

As far as gameplay goes, there is a choice of modes depending on what you want out of the game. Speed Mode is more of a pure experience, focusing on facing skill and making the most of the drift system to outspeed your opponents.

Item Mode makes for a more wacky experience. You have access to all kinds of weapons and items to make things harder for the other racers. It’s a great option to play with friends, though we take no responsibility for any longstanding feuds caused by weapon use in Item Mode.

Afraid Of Free-To-Play?

Now you might read ‘free-to-play’ and immediately feel suspicious, and we don’t blame you. How s Nexon earning money if you don’t have to buy the game?

Developer Nexon is keen to state that Kartrider: Drift won’t have any pay-to-win elements. If you’re shelling out cash, it will be for cosmetic items rather than anything that influences your chance of winning.

The cosmetics-only is great news for the multiplayer scene, as we’ll be able to enjoy fair matches for the forseeable future.
