[Updated: Game Released] Laser Dog releases a new trailer for their upcoming platformer Hopiko

Laser Dog announced back in August 2015 that they would finally be releasing their crazy looking platformer Hopiko onto mobile devices in September. Well it is now September and it looks like release is close as the company has revealed a new official trailer for Hopiko.

[UPDATE: Wednesday, September 23rd – 8:39 PM, PST] We have enjoyed Laser Dog’s games that have been made available in the Google Play Store. We imagine that HoPiko will be no different. If you are ready for some frantic action, HoPiko is now available to download in the Google Play Store. The game costs $3.99 and does not include any in-app purchases. The link to download the game can be found at the end of this article.

If you missed our previous coverage, Hopiko is all about saving video games… literally. Inside video games and consoles happens to live tiny people who are happily working away to provide everyone with all the video game entertainment they can handle. Like any society, there also happens to be illnesses floating around, or in this case viruses. In order to keep these little people safe and healthy, players will need to roam around inside video games and consoles, bashing the viruses on the head or killing them with other methods.

Unlike a lot of platformers out there, Hopiko is a reaction-based one, sort of like Super Meat Boy and other challenging platformers that have come out. This is a fast-paced and frantic game with retro-style graphics to check out while you try not to die. On top of the fast-paced nature of this game, your tiny character will be hopping between platforms and teleporting between pipes/canons floating in mid-air while stuff is blowing up behind them. Sitting still isn’t much of an option in this game.

Levels are packed together in groups, and if you don’t finish one of the packs, failing halfway through, you will be sent back to the beginning. So expect some leveling grinding to occur as well. Rounding everything out is a retro-style soundtrack as well. The chiptune soundtrack was all recorded on a Gameboy for authenticity no less.

Hopiko is still slated for release on September 24th onto Android. In the meantime, enjoy the new trailer above.
