Looks like we are going to be getting a Borderlands movie from Lionsgate

Borderlands as a franchise has done well for itself, crossing into every platform with at least some sort of game so that no matter what you are playing on, you have access to a Borderlands game. Now the franchise is crossing another media line and this time it is in the movie industry.

Today Lionsgate has announced that they are working on an official Borderland movie in conjunction with the co-founder of Marvel Studios and Gearbox Software. Avi Arad, former chief creative officer at Marvel Studios, will be overseeing all the creative work on the film.

We believe that we’ve brought together the right partners, the ideal creative team and the perfect property to launch a new motion picture tentpole for a global audience. – Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger

Unfortunately there is almost no additional details about the upcoming Borderlands film aside from the fact it is now officially a thing. However it will take place on Pandora, and it will probably feature a lot of the main characters from the games. When more details are released, we will post an update. A Borderlands movie does sound like it could be real good if done properly.
