Make Choices To Escape A Frosty Fate In Text Adventure Heart Of Ice

Summer is here, and maybe the heat is already starting to wear on you. Want to take a trip to somewhere much cooler? Cool enough to freeze whole groups of people into solid ice statues where they stand? That’s the world you can look forward to exploring in new game Heart of Ice.

So what’s it all about? Heart of Ice by Dave Morris is a text-based adventure game, in the vein of the Fighting Fantasy series, or, if you’re super millennial, the Give Yourself Goosebumps books.

A Choose Your Own Adventure Book On Your Phone

It’s text-based, but this is not just a book; you have a fair amount of agency in what you do. You make choices that let you decide how the story progresses. Depending on the choices you make, the story might take a completely different direction. This direction might not end great for your main character, though. You might get a bad ending if you’re not careful.

There are seven different character classes, with different skillsets and starting gear.

There’s a money system, and merchants that let you purchase items, which might come in handy and give you extra options along the way.

Retell The Story

There’s quite a lot of scope to replay the story, as different choices will send the narrative in different directions. There are also four different levels of difficulty, if you’d like to challenge yourself, or have a bit of breathing room. Maybe see how some of the other classes work, or if you had decided to investigate that suspicious scene in the mountains.

The game is a premium option, but that does have its perks. Heart of Ice has no ads, no microtransactions, and you can play it 100% offline, so you don’t need to worry about losing access every time you switch your data off or you lose signal. We always hate it when that’s a thing.

If this sounds like your kind of game, you can pick up Heart of Ice via Google Play or the App Store right now.
