Masketeers: Idle Has Fallen is Appxplore’s Latest Casual Gaming Gem, Out Now

Masketeers: Idle Has Fallen hit the absolutely massive milestone of 1 million pre-registrations before going live this week, so there are a lot of happy gamers tapping away on their screens right now.

Created by the high-end casual gaming supremos at Appxplore (iCandy), Masketeers: Idle Has Fallen is an idle-RPG, but not as you know it. While the core ingredients of an idle-RPG are present, there’s an innovative extra layer of puzzle-flavored gameplay to sink your teeth into.

It looks great, too, and comes with a compelling backstory. The world has fallen prey to a vast malaise, and invisible wraiths are stalking the land feeding on all the negative emotions.

The only way to see and to fight them is to don a special mask, and so that’s exactly what you and your fellow Masketeers have done, forming squads of righteous wraith-busters to clean up the streets and restore global happiness. Missions don’t come much more important than that.

In practice, fighting wraiths is a mostly automated affair. Masketeers stand on one side of the screen, wraiths hover on the other, and you automatically spew projectiles at one another across the playing area.

Except there’s a special extra ingredient. At the bottom of the screen there’s a channel that fills with glowing orbs, and you tap these to deploy special attacks. Over time, you gain the ability to chain orbs together in increasing numbers for more powerful volleys.

This introduces a puzzle-esque element to the game, as you need to arrange your orbs to make clusters. And there’s a tactical side to Masketeers: Idle Has Fallen, since you need to consider whether to save up your powerful combos for the bosses that show up from time to time.

You can also utilise a range of strategies by mixing and matching different teams of Masketeers.

Naturally, there’s a whole lot of collecting, unlocking, and levelling up to be done. You can obtain several different masks, all with their own unique properties, and you can equip runes to them too. Plus, you’ll obtain powerful charms to use in battle.

There’s no shortage of stuff to do in Masketeers: Idle Has Fallen. To try the game out for yourself, download it for free right now on the App Store and Google Play
