Supercell’s Monster Hunter Meets Pokémon MMO Mo.co is Now in Early Access on Android

A Mo.co player carrying a baseball bat and entering a portal.

I recently reported on Supercell’s upcoming MMO, Mo.co, which looks like Pokémon meets Monster Hunter. At the time I announced that it would enter beta exclusively on Android at the end of October.

As it turns out, Supercell is as good as its word, as Mo.co has just entered early access. It’s only for Android users located in the US, and you can grab it right now on Google Play.

It’s a limited beta, and will only run until November 6. Supercell hasn’t revealed what will happen following the beta, but I’m going to keep a close eye on this one and keep you informed right here on Droid Gamers.

What’s Mo.co?

Mo.co is Supercell’s first ever MMO. Visually, it looks very similar to Pokémon, with its cutesy, chibi characters, but it plays like a cross between Monster Hunter and Diablo.

Mo.co is the name of the monster hunting crew that you join when you play. This includes fellow cast members Luna, Manny, and Jax, who join you on your adventures.

Those involve exploring a variety of dungeons alongside your friends as you battle monsters. The goal? Well, to loot up and increase your power.

Is That Player Housing?

In a teaser trailer Supercell dropped on Twitter, we see a player character run through a portal in what appears to be their own house. I really hope that’s a sign that player housing is a feature in Mo.co.

We then see a group of players battling monsters in a dungeon, which you seem to access from a Monsters Inc.-style portal in your house. That’s pretty neat.

We then see a team of heroes riding on monster mounts before we see a ton of different character customisation options. There’s a fist-like weapon, a bladed dual-saber, a staff, baseball bat, crossbow, and glowing orb.

There also seems to be a huge number of costume options, too. It doesn’t look like traditional armour, but streetwear. So, it looks like style is more important than statistics in Mo.co.!

Mo.co Looks a Lot Like Diablo

The trailer wraps up with a ton of gameplay, which looks a lot like a colourful Diablo. Players whack, fire shots, and unleash particle effect-ridden skills against poor monsters.

In terms of design, it’s a varied experience. The monsters have different attack patterns to learn, and the environments range from snowy mountains, to ancient dungeons, and grassy forests.

Supercell has a pretty decent track record at this point, and Mo.co looks set to be another winner. Go check it out right now.
