A lot is happening in Monster Hunter Now, with a new thing Niantic is testing called Monster Outbreaks. They’re just going to get player feedback on it and see if it needs any tweaks before rolling it out as a full-fledged new feature.

When Is the Monster Outbreaks Testing in Monster Hunter Now?

The testing phase runs from April 26th to 27th, for a couple hours each day. The event runs twice a day on both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 10:59 a.m. and again from 3:00 to 3:59 p.m., local time.

At certain outbreak points on the map, you’ll suddenly find a whole bunch of 8-star Black Diablos. You’re supposed to team up with other players and try to take down 100 of them. Not 100 total across everyone globally, but 100 at that one outbreak spot, during that one-hour window!

You need to be HR 11 or higher just to join. Also, you can’t use the party feature, only in-person group hunts count.

Outbreak points are marked on the map with a special icon. Once you find one, you can tap on it to check the details. They’ve even added a sign-up roster at each spot so you can let people know when you plan to jump in.

The slay count thing is kind of interesting. If you go in with three other hunters and take one monster down, that counts as four toward the 100 goal.

And if you hit the 100 mark before the time’s up, you can keep hunting for the rest of the hour. Only Black Diablos will spawn during these outbreaks.

There are also some rewards up for grabs if your group gets the job done. If the 100-monster goal is hit, you’ll get 3 Black Diablos Tailcases, 3 Ridges, 3 Primeshells, 3 Marrows, and 2,000 Zenny. And if you use the sign-up roster, there’s a special Outbreak Test I Medal up for grabs.
