Monster Hunter Now only launched last week, but Niantic has already released the game’s first big update. It introduces the terrifying Diablos to the experience, though you may to wait until Saturday to face it.
Diablos appears in desert regions, though Niantic is keen to stress that monsters appear more often in parks. So desert region parks are your best bet.
Be warned though: Diablos may well be the most powerful monster in Monster Hunter Now right now, so you may want to bring a few friends along for the ride.
What’s Diablos Invasion?
Diablos Invasion is Monster Hunter Now’s first major event, and it kicks off on Saturday 23 at 1PM local time. It then ends just over 24 hours later at 4PM.
I said ‘may’ earlier, as it’s unclear if Diablos can appear at any point, or during the event only. The exact wording is “Diablos will appear more frequently in desert regions”. That implies that Diablos appears now in desert regions, though the event will increase your chance.
What we do know is that you can complete a time-limited event quest that draws inspiration from Diablos. One of the tasks is to capture Diablos in AR mode to get rewards.
If you want to face Diablos, you have to be at least Hunter Rank 11. The event quest is only available during the Diablos Invasion event, and we listed the times above.
Is There Anything Else in the Monster Hunter Now Update?
Yes! Niantic has finally released the pre-registration rewards, and you can grab them from the in-game shop right now. These include:

- 3 Paintballs
- Founder Medal
- 3 Wander Droplets
- 4 Special Pre-Order Makeup
- 500 Item Box Expansion
- 3 Special Carving Knives
