Monster Train is a new roguelite deck-building game on Android. It was first released for PC in 2020, followed by consoles. It also launched on iOS later in 2022, and it’s finally landing on Android. Due to its genre and gameplay, it has often been compared to Slay the Spire.

What Does Monster Train Bring to Android?

The game is set on a literal train heading into the frozen heart of hell. Your job is to protect the last burning pyre from heavenly invaders.

Now, what makes Monster Train stand out is its three vertical lanes. Instead of fighting enemies in a single battlefield like most games, here you juggle three at once.

And you’ll get to unlock over 250 cards as you go, with five different monster clans. Each clan plays completely differently, and you can mix and match two at a time.

Every clan also comes with ten levels of upgrades, giving you access to stronger cards the more you play them. Champions are MVPs and can be upgraded multiple times.

The Android version of Monster Train comes with all the updates, including Wild Mutations and Friends & Foes. Wild Mutations adds 35 new mutators and new difficulty settings. While Friends & Foes gives you new champions, bosses, cards, and artefacts.

There’s also The Last Divinity DLC, which adds a solid replay value with a new clan called the Wurmkin. You’ll need to beat Covenant level 1 to unlock them. The Pact Shards mechanic in this DLC gives you power and a tough titular endboss, ‘The Last Divinity.’

Will You Try It Out?

The Android version of Monster Train is fully playable offline, even in airplane mode. You can get the full version for $10. There are in-app purchases, but it’s mostly just unlocking the full game. Once you buy it through your Google account, it carries over across devices.

Cloud saves are supported too, so you won’t lose your progress when switching phones. Just a heads up though, there’s no controller support. On that note, check it out on the Google Play Store.
