Netflix is stepping into MMO territory with Spirit Crossing. It’s a cosy life-sim developed by Spry Fox and was announced at GDC 2025. If you’re familiar with Spry Fox’s past work, like Cozy Grove and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, you can expect warm pastel visuals, soothing music and a focus on connection instead of competition.
Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing
The game will let you explore a vast world, build and decorate homes and cultivate a thriving village with others. You can gather resources, ride around on fluffy creatures, join dance parties and just vibe with friends.
Visually, Spirit Crossing takes inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics and even a bit of that modern art style like Corporate Memphis. It’s meant to feel timeless and familiar, a space where players might want to settle in for years.
The game features a unique in-game calendar system that affects progression. Trees you plant won’t instantly grow; they’ll take three to six real-world months to become a full orchard you can harvest. It’s the kind of long-term, slow-paced design that Spry Fox experimented with in Cozy Grove as well.
There’s an emphasis on making meaningful connections, something that’s been at the core of Spry Fox’s design philosophy for years. Studio co-founder David Edery talked about wanting Spirit Crossing to be a space that turned strangers into friends.
