So if you are a regular reader of DroidGamers then you’ve probably noticed that the entire site looks a lot different. This is the newest iteration of DroidGamers, what we are calling a 4.0 beta. Why a beta? Because we still have a few more things to do and tweak. However the majority of the new site is done.
This new layout offers up a lot more news on the frontpage without having to scroll forever and a day like a lot of sites are doing these days. Instead you can access the news you want to read right away as well as scroll through some of the older articles to find what you want to read without all the scrolling and such. The mobile version of the site has been overhauled as well with pretty much all the same features as the main site.
For those of you who use our Google Currents or our DroidGamers News App, both of those will be updated over the next 48 hours with new feeds. Google Currents will be updated today while our app will be updated in the next 48hrs, most likely tomorrow. Until the updates arrive, you won’t see new articles appearing in either of those. This is because we are using a new feed system and need to update everything which takes a little time, especially with the app. We want to do it right and not screw it up.
Another big feature we are launching tomorrow is our Indie Android Game store. This will be a store where you can find and buy awesome indie Android games, all of which will be either free games or paid full games. There will be no games with IAPs in them available here. We have some developers already loading games up onto the store while other developers are getting ready to do that. This will also be a curated store so all the games will be high quality indie Android games.
We will be launching a small Kickstarter tomorrow for this store as well to secure hosting for a year for it and some other minor customization we would like to do with the store. This will allow us to offer the developers on our store a much higher percentage per sale than anywhere else, ensuring that indie developers for Android are successful. When they are successful, we all benefit with awesome games. Our store, which will be called Mecha, will also be compatible with all Android devices and consoles and will also be available through our official DroidGamers News App.
There’s a lot happening over the next 48hrs so bare with us as we try to get everything done as well as continue reporting on all the Android gaming news that we can. Oh and we will be darkening up the green today since it is pretty bright.
