Redditor and YouTuber Nimblethor has put together a tier list of the best Android games of 2022 on Reddit, and it’s quite a bit better than Google’s efforts.
The user has been regularly reviewing games for r/AndroidGaming, and has recently published a post with an end-of-year roundup of the best, or at least the most impactful, games of the year, ranked in terms of quality.
The poster helpfully tagged each game with a notice about whether they’re free or premium, and links to short reviews that will give you some idea of the rationale behind each choice.
A More In-Touch Selection?
Earlier this month, we covered the Google Play Top Games of 2022 list and noted a few odd awards that puzzled the Android gaming community, to put it mildly. Dislyte winning the best multiplayer was not a result many expected.
Dislyte did place on Nimblethor’s list, though finished up in the C-tier, leaving a seemingly big gap between opinions on the game’s overall quality.
Vampire Survivors made one of the top spots, though its surprise release simply came too late to factor into Google’s choices. It’s nice to see it getting some love in this list.
A Few Universal Likes, A Few Controversial Choices
Both Nimblethor and Google agreed on Apex Legends Mobile, with the game reaching the top tier in the Reddit list, and netting best game overall on Google Play.
Not everyone felt the ranking of Ni-no-Kuni: Cross Worlds in its own lowest category was justified, though it seems that its autoplay and heavy pay-to-win aspects cost it a lot of goodwill.
All best games lists are subjective, and you might well disagree with one or both depending on your priorities as a gamer, but we love the rundown, and Nimblethor’s positive attitude to reviews is pretty infectious.
It might be the best Android games of 2022 reddit list might be the superior ranking to look at this year, at least until ours is out, anyway.
