A rather cool, and large, retro style RPG has arrived on Google Play called 9th Dawn. Developed by Valorware, who originally held a Kickstarter project to help with getting this game completed but ended up having their Kickstarter be unsuccessful, have gone ahead and kept on working on getting this game out onto Android finally. It took a bit longer but it has arrived and it was worth the wait.
9th Dawn is a full open world retro RPG similar to games like Ultima where you will be exploring the large island continent of Montelorne, starting in the small village of Agaria. From there you will set off in the hope of finding adventure, treasure, rare gear and the ability to defeat powerful monsters. You’ll need to pick one of the three classic classes to play as, The Knight, an Archer or The Wizard. Each class has their own strengths and weakness of course so you will have to pick the class that better suits your gameplay style.
There will be plenty to do in 9th Dawn and considering that it is an open world, there really isn’t any limit to what you can do or find. You can help out troubled Montelornians with the rising undead armies, look for treasure like a true adventurer or just explore the massive world that is Montelorne and it is big, considering it has numerous dungeons, towns and forests to explore.
Fans of retro RPGs and dungeon crawlers will definitely want to check out 9th Dawn which is available in two flavors on the Google Play store, one being a free demo version to try out while the second version is the full version of the game for $1.99. Keep in mind that this is the initial release and there might be some bugs. The developers are really wanting feedback and help with finding bugs so if you do find any, be sure to toss them an email so they can improve and expand on the game much faster.
