Game studios always come up with smaller-scale sports titles, bringing a familiar pastime. The latest addition to Android is Pocket Golf Tournament. It’s a table-top golf game inspired by real golf rules and strategy.
Pocket Golf Tournament is straightforward
You select a club, set a direction, roll the dice, and watch the ball travel across a course made up of distinct tiles. The club lineup mirrors what you’d expect from a standard golf bag. It has Driver, Wood, Hybrid, Iron, Wedge, and Putter.
Each choice influences distance and control, while the dice offers unpredictability to accuracy and overall outcome. The selected club, the starting terrain, and randomness from the dice shape the ball flight.
The courses in Pocket Golf Tournament also reflect real golf elements. Fairway, rough, green, sand, and water hazards all appear, and trees aren’t just decorative obstacles. A mid-flight collision with a tree can cause the ball to drop early, abruptly changing the result.
Once the ball lands, it bounces, rolls, and eventually comes to rest naturally on the tile grid. You must complete each hole within a required number of strokes. The outcomes are tracked using traditional labels such as birdie, par, bogey, and more.
You move hole by hole across courses, trying to finish under par while navigating hazards that can quickly add strokes. You need to finish each hole within the target number of attempts, just like real golf scoring conventions.
High-score tables are available for each course in Pocket Golf Tournament. Eclectic scores track a player’s best result on every individual hole. You can earn achievements along the way, and there’s an option to compete with friends for the best overall score on a course.
