Psyduck is the star of the latest Pokémon GO event. Its arrival is actually to celebrate the return of Pokémon Concierge on Netflix. Part 2 of the animation series dropped on September 4th, and continues Haru’s adventures in the resort.
Pokémon GO gives Psyduck a swimming safety lesson
Recently, Psyduck was spotted waddling around Brazil. In Pokémon GO, you can spot it because of the Pokémon Concierge Celebration Event. It runs from September 9th, at 10:00 a.m. until September 14th, 2025, at 8:00 p.m.
While there’s no new Pokémon entering the game this time, Psyduck is getting the spotlight with a debut costume. This version wears a swim ring, can appear in the wild, and has its Shiny form available. Alongside Psyduck, Sealeo will be appearing in the wild, while Shinx will be a rarer spawn.
A few bonuses are active during the event. You’ll earn 2× XP for catching Pokémon, buddies will bring items more frequently, and the odds of finding Shiny Psyduck with a swim ring are boosted. The Shiny Psyduck also come with a special background exclusive to the event.
What else is happening?
There’s also a chance to get photobombed during GO Snapshots by Pokémon or characters from Pokémon Concierge. Meanwhile, completing Field Research will grant encounters with themed species. So, grab the game from the Google Play Store before the event kicks off.
I’m quite excited for Pokémon Concierge’s second season. The series was born from talks between The Pokémon Company and Netflix in 2019. The first season of the stop-motion Japanese ONA series dropped in December 2023.
Its heartfelt storytelling and soothing atmosphere made it a quick hit. The story centres on Haru, a woman who finds herself working as a concierge at the Pokémon Resort. There, she learns and grows through her interactions with visiting Pokémon. If you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend it.
