Niantic is dropping the Sunkissed Shores event in Pokémon GO on August 25th. It kicks off at 10:00 a.m. and runs until August 31st, 2025, 8:00 p.m. The spotlight of the week-long event is the arrival of Dondozo, the Big Catfish Pokémon from Paldea.
Dondozo is making its first-ever appearance in the mobile game!
Dondozo is a giant piscine Pokémon. It’s light blue at the top, dark blue in the middle and white on its upper lip, belly, and fins. A Water type, it follows Tatsugiri, is a glutton, is weak to Grass and Electric, and does not evolve.
During the Pokémon GO Sunkissed Shores event, you can encounter it in both wild encounters and three-star raids. While battling your way through raids, there’s also a 2× XP bonus for winning.
The wild encounters for the event lean heavily into a beach-inspired roster. You’ll find Pokémon like Psyduck, Shellder, Marill, Shuckle, Wingull, Tepig, Helioptile, Bounsweet, Sandygast, and Lechonk appearing more frequently.
Oricorio plays a big role, too. Baile Style Oricorio will show up in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Pom-Pom Style Oricorio takes over the Americas. Pa’u Style Oricorio spawns across African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands. Sensu Style Oricorio can be found in the Asia-Pacific region.
Meanwhile, in raids, you’ll find region-exclusive Tatsugiri forms. The Curly Form is available in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The Droopy Form is appearing in the Americas, and the Stretchy Form is located in the Asia-Pacific region. Three-star raids feature Alolan Raichu, Alolan Marowak, and the newly arriving Dondozo.
The Sunkissed Shores event immediately follows the Dark Skies event in Pokémon GO. From August 18th to August 23rd, it focuses on Dynamax Pokémon in Max Battles. So, yes, the coming weeks are packed with a lot of action. And hence, you should get the game from the Google Play Store if you haven’t already.
