Pop’s Quest is Like Super Meat Boy But Chill

Pop's Quest levels.

Have you ever wished that Super Meat Boy was just slightly less impossible? Well, then you need a little more Pop’s Quest in your life.

It’s a super chill platformer that sends you off on an adventure you to rescue your son across a variety of picturesque levels. It does offer a challenge for sure, but you won’t tear your hair out like you will with Meat Boy.

How Does Pop’s Quest Play?

Much like a typical platformer, you leap over traps and obstacles and avoid or beat enemies. There are also items that can help you, rather than hinder you, including platforms that allow you to jump higher than usual.

There’s a surprisingly deep story too, delivered in cutesy cutscenes. On the way to rescuing your kid, you meet a variety of characters that you can assist.

If you like character customisation, you will love Pop’s Quest. You can collect currency that you can spend on tweaking your character. This also encourages you to replay levels, so you can collect more currency and customise the character in your image.

The Characters Are Kinda Terrifying

Having said that, I do find the characters a little terrifying in terms of design. They’re basically a circular head on top of a plain white body. There are no arms, and barely any legs.

Seeing your character run across the scenery is the stuff that nightmares are made of. So, I guess it’s a good thing it’s Halloween, eh?

In total, there are just over 20 levels to complete, so it won’t take you super long to beat. It’s a free game though, so there’s no cost to giving it a try.
