The US election is almost here, and everybody in the world, let alone the US, is waiting with bated breath to see what direction global events are going to take once the current presidential term is over.
You’re probably looking for a distraction from all this political heavy weather. Presidents Run certainly won’t give you that, but it’s a fun and gloriously irreverent take on politics that might make you feel a bit better about everything that’s happening.
Presidents Run is an endless runner featuring a range of leading political figures from around the world. The aim is to get them as far as possible while avoiding obstacles, dodging missiles, and collecting boosts and other goodies.
These goodies include votes, a form of in-game currency that you can spend on new characters, shoes, hats, and so on.
Votes let you deepen your bench of political heavyweights, finesse your appearance, and improve your performance too. For instance, you can start with dual jet packs, triple busters, electro boots, a head start, a super head start, and more. Plus, you can buy revives, allowing you to keep your race alive after you wipe out.
But it’s not all fun and games. Well, it is, but there’s a sneaky ulterior purpose to Presidents Run. Every mile that you clock with your chosen candidate goes towards their global polling numbers, and you can see who’s ahead whenever you like (in defiance of his real-life polling numbers, Donald Trump is currently ahead of the pack.)
President Run first surfaced all the way back in 2012, when Barack Obama was squaring up against Mitt Romney. Developer React Games has revived it to reflect the current political landscape, with a whole new crop of world leaders to choose from.
There’s Biden and Trump, of course, but also Jacina Ardern, Kim Jong-un, Vladimir Putin, and even the zombified remains of Lincoln and Washington, in case you’re pining for simpler times.
