Raiden Legacy arrives in all its glory, packs 4 nostalgic games in one neat package

Raiden is a pretty popular side-scrolling shooter amongst the older gamers, and this franchise has now made its way to Android thanks to DotEmu under the guise of Raiden Legacy. You get four games in one neat little package – the original Raiden, Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2 and Raiden Fighters Jet. The developers claim that the games have not merely been recreated, but instead enhanced with some new features too.

Each one of the four Raiden games will come with three game modes. Arcade Mode is just like how it used to be, Mission Mode which allows you to play any unlocked stage and Training Mode that allows you to practice the most difficult stages.

Additional game features:

-Play in full-screen, or keep the game’s original screen ratio thanks to “Original Mode” (note that your fingers will be outside the game area).
-AutoFire: ON/OFF
-Two difficulty modes: Medium and Hard.
-Nine languages available: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese
-Video filtering (for rich, smooth graphics)
-ScoreLoop compatible: 15 unlockable achievements + online leaderboards.

There are also more than 15 different ships, each predictably with their own unique characteristics such as stats, weapons and specials. There is also a new control mechanism called Fast Touch that caters to mobile devices, or you could revert back to the old, familiar scheme using Arcade Touch. Both control methods can be customizable as well.

I know many a retro game fan has been patiently waiting for this game to arrive on Android. You can get it off Google Play right this instant for $4.90 or thereabouts. Keep in mind that you’re essentially paying for 4 games, so while the price-tag may indeed seem a little steep, it’s not as bad as you think it is.
