You may remember my report on this game back in September! Well, the Refind Self release date has been officially confirmed. Back then, we only had a November release window. But we now know that the narrative game will be available to download and play on November 14.

Choices, Choices, and More Choices!

If you’ve never heard of Refind Self, you’re in for a treat. Suddenly, you’re in control of a doll – a wind-up one to be more precise. Instantly I found myself analysing the trailer, trying to find a hidden meaning.

Basically, Refind Self is a choice-heavy game. It relies entirely on what you decide to do during your time playing. Whether you ignore a certain NPC, or you walk in the left direction instead of the right, every choice determines the provided personality type at the end.

A Variety of Endings = Replayability

With an array of personality types to reach, which each act as alternate endings for the game, you’ll be able to hop in and out when you feel like picking the game up again. Maybe you’ll be happy with one personality type. Or maybe you’ll want to collect them all – a bit like Pokemon.

Anyway, this pixelated game is not as it seems on the surface. It does look really cute, bar the moody tones and colour palettes. But there’s something quite lovely about the character models and environments.

Unique Experiences… Time and Time Again

One of the main reasons why video games with tons of decision-making are so popular, is probably due to the fact that it allows the player to experience a unique storyline.

Your first playthrough will always hold a special place in your heart, but it’s fun diving in multiple times to try and get the different endings of a game – or personality types in this case.

In fact, you’ll probably find that the game changes quite a bit when you change even the most minute decision. Refind Self has replayability, charm, and so much more. It’s what you make of it, and how you perceive the hidden meanings, that make this wind-up doll tick.
