Rhythm action gaming meets sword slicing action in Music Samurai

There really isn’t a whole lot of games that could be classified as a rhythm action game on Android, or for mobile in general. However Pixel Punch has developed a title that fits nicely into that category of gaming called Music Samurai, where you get to play a rhythm action game as a samurai, slicing up people while you run.

Inspired by TV shows like Afro Samurai and Samurai Champloo, Music Samurai features art that reflects that inspiration, combining it with a music rhythm game to create a pretty interesting game. Hell it even sports a bit of the humor found in those shows in the storyline since you are a rather angry samurai who, after having his bowl of rice eaten by an evil chubby samurai, is out for vengeance.

While suffering from the need to eat and dishing out vengeance over your lost bowl of rice, you will be running through villages slicing up the enemy’s minions. This is all done through a rhythm-based style of gameplay similar to that of titles like Guitar Hero, Rock Band and so on. Tapping on the screen at the right time will have your angry samurai chopping opponents as they come up after you. There are two game modes to play through: Story Mode which unlock levels and follows the path of the samurai and Infinite Mode, allowing you to choose any unlocked level and try running as long as you can.

Music Samurai has weekly leaderboard to try to compete in and a Golden Dragon to find which gives you a pretty big boost in points. If you are ready to jump into the role of an angry samurai slicing up people, you can grab a copy of Music Samurai off of the Google Play store for $1.04.
