Samago has just dropped on mobile as a new pixel-art platformer from Finnish indie studio This Reality. The game is all about frogs. Yes, in all kinds and colours and sizes. And it’s a 24-hour challenge. In case you have ranidaphobia, then this game is strictly not for you!
What do you do in Samago?
The game puts you in control of frogs racing through precision platforming levels. But the stage only sticks around for 24 hours. Everyone worldwide gets the same layout for that cycle.
Once the timer’s up, the leaderboard resets and a new course is generated. It’s a daily challenge system where you’ll have to adapt quickly and find new challenges every day.
As you push further into each level filled with tricky obstacles and enemies, you’ll also come across the ghosts of other players. These ghost frogs can actually snatch your coins if you’re not careful. Phew!
Watching how others attempt the course gives you hints on better strategies, but it also makes each run a little riskier. On that note, catch a glimpse of Samago, the game, below.
If you’d rather not deal with daily pressure, there’s a Practice Mode, too. Here, the level changes after each death instead of sticking around for 24 hours.
So, you get to hone your platforming skills at your own pace. Once you’re ready, you can jump back into the main mode and aim for high scores while competing with others.
Tons of customisation options
You can dress up your frogs with skins, costumes, and trails that are visible to others. The skins come in a variety of colours, and so do the costumes and trails. You can be a neon pink frog wearing a funky cowboy costume, leaving behind a green flame for a trail. The game also lets you decorate your frog’s house with collectible furniture and accessories.
