Shin-chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation – The Endless Seven-Day Journey is out now on Android. Better known as Shin chan: Summer Vacation, it’s published on mobile by Crunchyroll. The game came out on Nintendo Switch in 2021, followed by Steam and PS4 in 2022.

It’s based on the manga and anime series Crayon Shin-chan

Shin chan: Summer Vacation brings Japan’s cheeky yet lovable troublemaker to the rural landscapes of Assou, Kumamoto. The story begins when Hiroshi’s business trip to Kyushu prompts the Nohara family to spend their summer with a childhood friend of Misae’s.

Upon arriving at Kumamoto Station, they encounter a peculiar man who hands them an equally peculiar camera, asking them to act as his witnesses. With this new camera, Shinnosuke begins exploring the lush fields and mountains of Assou.

One evening, Shinnosuke spots a towering creature alongside that same odd man from the station, Professor Akuno. From that night onward, unusual events begin to unfold around Assou. He discovers creatures never seen back in Kasukabe, meets friendly townsfolk, and finds new playmates.

Shin chan: Summer Vacation brings slice-of-life gameplay with open-ended exploration

Daily life in Assou comes with plenty of activities. The mornings start with town-wide gymnastics sessions, a summer tradition in Japan. Meals are shared between the Nohara and Hinoyama families.

You can roam the countryside, catch rare bugs and fish, and help locals, while stumbling upon picturesque spots. Evenings wind down with a bath under the stars in a traditional tiled tub before recording the day’s memories in a picture diary.

Shinnosuke can also become a child journalist for Cap at the News Agency, with his scoops appearing in local bulletins. You can grow vegetables at Kurokami Farm and sell to the Hinoyama Café or the local curry restaurant for pocket money.

Friendship unlocks even more experiences. The kids of Assou invite Shinnosuke to Dinosaur Showdown battles, where he can buy Chocobi from the Kirishima Store and collect dino cards. The café and bar Dancing Jiro even lets him try his hand as a DJ.

Fully voiced in Japanese with English subtitles, Shin chan: Summer Vacation is now up for grabs on the Google Play Store.
