thatgamecompany is kicking off a bold storytelling experiment in Sky. They’re dropping a new season, Season of The Two Embers – Part 1 in Sky: Children of the Light on July 21st. It’s the first piece of an exciting four-part saga.
Season of The Two Embers brings cinematic storytelling into the game, inspired by the in-game film Sky: The Two Embers. The new season will run alongside part one of the film.
Sky: Children of the Light Season of The Two Embers – Part 1 follows the same story as Sky: The Two Embers
The story is about an orphan who refuses to give up on hope, even as everything around them falls into darkness. There’s only a flowing animated narrative with no spoken dialogue.
Each chapter rolls out as a short film. Then you immediately jump into Seasonal Quests that let you walk in the same final moments of a fading kingdom.
The big emotional anchor of the story is a manatee companion. It reacts to what you do and stays by your side throughout the highs and lows.
Alongside the story, you’ll get to explore one of Sky’s most detailed new areas. It’s a lively market village full of Spirits and random secrets. The new cosmetics include fun manatee hats and earrings that match the atmosphere.

Chapter 3 arrives on August 4th, and the final chapter lands on August 11th. Once each chapter premieres, it will replay every two hours in the in-game cinema.
