DiG-iT! Games is adding a seasonal update to its sliding puzzle SlidewayZ: A Musical Journey, just in time for Halloween. The game was launched last year in August after a small closed beta test in May of the same year.
What’s in store for Halloween in SlidewayZ: A Musical Journey?
For the entire month of October, you can swap the usual puzzle pieces for two themed sets featuring pumpkins and ghosts. These are limited-time characters which will no longer be available from November 1st.
The spooky season brings other new challenges to the game. Just like last year, you’ll be checking out new puzzles that have the new themed characters running around, giving you new missions to tackle.
The game is a fresh take on the sliding block genre
With cute characters and classical music, SlidewayZ: A Musical Journey blends strategy games like Shogi and Chess with sliding block puzzles. The game has more than 400 puzzles in the main journey and over 800 puzzles in total.
Early levels ease you in with simple mechanics, while Challenge Mode unlocks later on with advanced problem-solving skills. For instance, one of the puzzles forces you to navigate 11 pieces across just 13 board tiles, requiring 45 moves to complete!
Basically, the game lets you collect music cards as you progress. You slowly assemble a classical soundtrack that matches the colourful 3D worlds. Jewel-toned characters move across tile paths. Some are restricted to only one direction, which can create a gridlock if the wrong choice is made.
