Songs of Travel is an animated graphic novel coming to Android on May 9th. It tells the stories of five migrants – Light, Vân, Michele, Hasan, and Olya – each on a journey to build a new life in Europe. Through their experiences, the game explores themes of hope, dreams, and what we hold dear.

Weaving Together Personal Stories

Light, a non-binary Syrian refugee, finds themself in Vienna after years of hardship. Vân, the child of Vietnamese immigrants in East Germany, grapples with their dual heritage.

Michele carries the weight of family history: His father was lost in a mining disaster. Hasan, who arrived in Austria as a child, explores his connection to his Turkish roots. Olya, a Ukrainian lawyer forced to flee her homeland twice, finds solace in resilience.

By following the journeys of these five individuals, players gain a deeper appreciation for the human stories behind the headlines of migration.

Songs of Travel Uses Art for Advocacy

Syrian artist Jack Gutmann, who also collaborated on the critically acclaimed game Path Out, is co-developing Songs of Travel with Causa Creations.

The soundtrack, composed by Northern Irish artist Elaine Agnew, adds another layer of depth, weaving emotions and cultural influences into the narrative tapestry.

Songs of Travel has lighthearted moments, even if it addresses a serious topic. Gamers can grow to understand the characters’ lives and secrets, and the game promises to include humor in the story.

The music is a crucial part of the project, you can see it live, too! They’re set to appear at various European festivals in Ireland, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands throughout 2024 and 2025, fostering dialogue and community around this critical issue. You can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store!
