[Update: Released] Sonic Runners gets a new trailer and this time is actually shows gameplay

We have reported on Sonic Runners a couple of times already and while we have a pretty good idea about what the game entails now, we have yet to see any of the actual gameplay even though videos regarding the game have been released. However we now finally have a video that shows what we can expect from Sonic Runners in terms of gameplay.

Update: February 26th, 2015 12:10pm PST: Good news is you live in Japan and were looking forward to playing Sonic Runners. The game is now available on Google Play but only in Japan right now. Global launch will be coming soon though. You can grab the game through the link at the bottom of this article.

If you missed our previous coverage regarding Sonic Runners by Sonic Team, here is the short and sweet version. Basically this game is an auto-running side-scrolling arcade game featuring not only the blue hedgehog himself, but other characters from the franchise including Tails, Knuckles, and Dr. Eggman. Each level (or episode as the developers are calling them) will last around 2 minutes in length. In other words, this is not an endless runner. If Sonic Team has their way, there will be over 50 episodes at launch, with more slated to arrive in future updates.

Sonic Runners looks and plays like any of the other Sonic games from back in the day, something that Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka mentioned in a past interview. The only real difference is that you are already running automatically.

Sonic Runners will be released onto Android in Japan this month for free and will contain IAPs. As for a Western release, no official dates have been announced as of yet.
