Square Enix is definitely making a push onto Android (finally) with a huge line-up of games to be shown off at E3 2012 and released starting this Summer. We already talked about the newly announced Final Fantasy Dimensions game coming to Android so lets talk about the rest of their line-up.
We have actually talked about a few of these games in passing after the Tokyo Game Show back in late 2011 but since then we haven’t heard a word about them, until now. To start things off we have KooZac which we talked about back in January of this year. Created by Ben Cusack, this game is a blend of Tetris and Sudoku in a single title. It is a very popular and challenging game.
We just talked about SolaRola yesterday and, as it turns out, it is being publishing onto Android this Summer by Square Enix. The revamping of this popular Java title which we now know is being done and published by Square Enix should look great.
Qwirkle is also up on the list of games coming to Android this Summer from Square Enix. Described as a matching game that requires tactical maneuvers and well-planned strategy, it is sort of a Bejeweled game of heavy drugs since you will be matching tiles not only based on color but shape as well.
Demons’ Score
Motley Blocks is another matching puzzle game coming from Square Enix this Summer for Android. In this particular game though you will be dragging your finger across your screen to connect blocks of a similar color as they rotate in a cyclonic pattern. Basically another match-3 game on heavy drugs.
Now we get into the second baddest title to come from Square Enix this Summer which is called Demons’ Score which we reported on back when it was announced during the Tokyo Game Show 2011. This game is an Unreal Engine 3 built action-RPG title that will “deliver thrilling touch-based gameplay through a mind-blowing fusion of stunning graphics and music created by hit songwriters.”
Originally when we reported on Demons’ Score during the Tokyo Game Show 2011, we got the original translation mixed up with another game which was a card-based RPG. Well we now know what that game will be as it too is heading to Android. This game is called Guardian Cross and it is a creature-based combat card game, similar to the likes of Magic the Gathering and other TCG titles. However, this is more of a Pokemon style of game as there will be ‘Tamers’ (a.k.a you the player) and beasts, known as Guardians, which you will capture, raise and train in order to challenge other ‘Tamers’ in combat from around the world in multiplayer battles.
As you can see Square Enix seems to finally be looking at Android with some validity now and we have a whole lot of awesome titles to look forward to this Summer from them. The only game without a definitive release time is Guardian Cross whose release date is still being determined. Check out the rather long press release below.
