Square Enix’s CEO Yoichi Wada to step down in June

Another executive will be stepping down from their position soon but this time it is the Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada who will be leaving. The reason for the CEO to step down? Square Enix has had a pretty rough time with sales for some of their games, slashing their internal sales goal in order after games like Hitman: Absolution didn’t sell as good as it should have.

Another reason why profits were not as high as they should have been is apparently due to the dynamic shift in the marketplace going on right now. Overall, the $106 million lose in profits (for their fiscal year ending on March 31, 2013) has made the company decide that they need some restructuring and that the lose will affect certain development cycles going on as well as the company’s current business model. As a result, Yoichi Wada will be stepping down in June of this year as the company’s CEO.

Will this affect upcoming Square Enix titles for Android at all? That isn’t really known yet but perhaps the company should look at lowering the pricing of their games just a bit to help things out as well as keeping the pricing of upcoming games like Final Fantasy IV and FFV reasonable.
