A new studio Deploy Starship is cooking up a new game. It’s their debut project, a sci-fi card game, and is called Starship Warbeasts. The upcoming free-to-play multiplayer game will be available on both PC and mobile platforms.
What’s new in the sci-fi card game Starship Warbeasts?
It’s a TCG drawing inspiration from genre staples like Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering. And along with the basics, it offers a new approach to combat. It will have level-ups, combat abilities, and evolving strategy mid-fight.
You’ll step into the role of Lumens, space adventurers wielding Warbeasts. The main elements in the game are the Warbeast cards, each representing a unique creature. You’ll create five-member teams out of these cards, with a staggering 75,287,520 possible Warbeast combinations.
There are tons of spells, items, and level-up cards that unlock new abilities in the middle of battle. Even the tactical options are incredibly broad. The game rewards players who come prepared and can adapt smartly during a match.
The game’s universe spans at least 10 planets, all of them home to their own Warbeasts. These planets are embroiled in conflict over a rare resource. The main storyline will mostly unfold through in-game events.
What else is in store?
Aside from deck-building and battling, each of the 10 planets brings 25 different Warbeasts into the pool, from gigantic beasts to spellcasters and alien creatures.
There’s also a chance a full campaign mode might be added later on. Matthew Albright, the founder of Deploy Starship, says the team wants Starship Warbeasts to feel like high-action cartoons.
Starship Warbeasts will offer full crossplay support across Steam, Android, and iOS. It’s expected to launch sometime in 2026, with the studio planning both public and private playtests in advance.
The Google Play Store page for Starship Warbeasts isn’t up yet, but you can check out Deploy Starship’s sci-fi card game on Steam. Meanwhile, be sure to read our other scoop on Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 Bringing Its Scary ‘Safe Haven’ to Mobile.
