Super Tank Blitz is now open for pre-registrations, with a global launch set for July.
Developed by Korean studio Lumidia Games and published by Smilegate Megaport, Super Tank Blitz is a follow-up to the hugely popular Super Tank Rumble, which has been downloaded more than 20 million times since coming out in 2017.
The sequel follows the highly successful blueprint of the original, but adds a few new elements for good measure.
At the most basic level, the game sees you building a tank and taking on players from around the world in 1v1 or 2v2 deathmatch battles across a variety of different locations.
These tanks can come in an almost infinite variety of shapes and sizes, as you add weapons, wheels, and other parts to make them as deadly and indestructible as possible. It’s a bit like Robot Wars, but with better explosions.
Super Tank Blitz augments this blueprint with, among other things, a new character collection feature. There are several Commanders to choose from, and as they grow you gain access to more parts to help you build your tank.
These Commanders are packed with personality. There’s Sperry, a WWII bomber pilot who crash-landed in the jungle and had to build a tank out of bomber parts to escape, Pyro, an exterminator who specialises in burning giant monsters to a crisp, Pippi, the scion of an infamous pirate family, and more.
Each of these characters has their own unique tank, as well as their own special attack. For example, Pippi can fire three guided shark missiles, Sperry can summon a mini ball turret, and Pyro shoots a pillar of fire.
On top of this major addition to the series there are several others, including a major UI overhaul of the tank assembly page. Parts organization has been simplified too.
Super Tank Blitz has already been soft-launched in six countries, including Canada and New Zealand, and the response has been positive. You can pre-register for the global launch version now, and if you do you’ll earn pre-registration rewards including 50 Gems, a Super Box, and a Special Event Medal.
