Midjiwan, the indie studio behind The Battle of Polytopia, has just announced a world championship! It’s the Polytopia World Championship 2025, which will take place this fall. The studio is gearing up to host the big event and is inviting you to take part in it.
A Huge Global Event!
The Battle of Polytopia World Championship is a tournament that will be built around the Battle of the Tribes theme. Participants can choose from Polytopia’s 12 in-game tribes. Each tribe comes with its own regional identity and tactical advantages, just like in the game.
The road to the finals starts with open qualifiers, so anyone can try their hand at climbing the ranks. From there, successful players move on to tribe-specific playoffs and elimination rounds. The ultimate goal is to be among the top six, earning a place at the live final event in Stockholm on December 6th.
It will be an in-person showdown and will be streamed online for players around the world. So, even if you don’t make it to the finals, you can cheer on your favourite strategies and get a look behind the scenes at the Midjiwan team’s work.
Matches will take place on the Polytopia Official Space on the Challengermode esports Platform. The action kicks off in September with qualifiers on September 13th.
Meanwhile, the prize pool of 10,000 USD makes the Polytopia World Championship the biggest competitive event in The Battle of Polytopia’s nine-year journey. You can check out the official page for the event to learn how to participate.

The tournament sounds quite exciting! The game itself has become quite popular because of its dynamic turn-based 4X civilisation strategy and adorable low-poly graphics. And with this event, its popularity is only set to grow more.
