If you have been playing games in the arcades back in the day then one title you will surely know is Dragon’s Lair. This particular game was way ahead of it’s time when it came out with the rather unique gameplay it came with. Digital Leisure recently released a mobile optimized version of this classic action adventure arcade game onto Android but there wasn’t any free demo versions for people to check out before jumping right in and buying the game for $4.99.
Now Digital Leisure has released a free demo version, both in an SD and HD edition, for anyone curious about getting the game but not wanting to pay for it without having tried it. For those of you unfamiliar with Dragon’s Lair, this game has you playing as a knight, who is rather goofy at times, who is on a quest to save a princess and eventually marry her. While the storyline isn’t overly original, and it was never intended to be, the gameplay is what set this game apart from pretty much every other game in the arcades back in the day. Dragon’s Lair played out almost like a movie while having players control the main character’s actions, having him jump or move to avoid dangers or killing monsters. However you had to time your actions properly, and do the correct action, to whenever a spot flashed on the screen.
