Netflix is rolling out a movie tie-in game for their upcoming sci-fi adventure, The Electric State. It’s going to be a puzzle game with a retro-futuristic twist. Titled The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, it will drop on March 18th, just four days after the film hits Netflix.
Directed by the Russo brothers, the film stars Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. Set to release on March 14th, it also features a bunch of massive robots in a post-apocalyptic road trip across an alternate ’90s America.
It’s Not Going to be a Simple Adaptation of the Movie
The Electric State: Kid Cosmo is actually a prequel to the movie’s story. It will explore the childhood of two key characters, Chris and Michelle, through a game-within-a-game experience. The game is developed by BUCK Games in collaboration with AGBO.
If BUCK Games sounds familiar, it’s because they’re the developers of Let’s! Revolution!, a popular roguelite puzzle game on Steam. So, we can hope the upcoming game to have some solid gameplay as well.
Kid Cosmo will take you through a series of puzzle adventures, a bit like the WarioWare series but with a distinct ’80s vibe. Set in Wichita, Kansas, in 1985, the story unfolds over five years, giving a deeper look at Chris and Michelle’s journey before the events of the movie.
You’ll be collecting modules, fixing up Kid Cosmo’s ship and solving puzzles that slowly unravel the secrets of the strange world. On that note, catch a glimpse of The Electric State: Kid Cosmo below.
