As a request from one of our readers we just found out that there is a Naked Gun game which is based off of the film franchise which was released at the beginning of this month. So we are going to take a look at it in a non-official but somewhat official review. If you haven’t seen at least one Naked Gun movie then you’ve been living under a rock all your life or you just don’t watch a lot of movies.
Fortunately for myself, I’ve watched all of the Naked Gun movies so seeing the sub-title of I.C.U.P makes me laugh. If you don’t get it then you probably might not enjoy this game or at least don’t have a slightly twisted sense of humor like I do. Developed by DNA Interactive, The Naked Gun I.C.U.P, which stands for International Crime Unit Police but pronounced “I See You Pee”, this game is an adventure game which reminds me of the adventure games from back in the day like Leisure Suit Larry.
However, this isn’t about the original dim-witted cop Frank Drebin but his possibly illegitimate son Frank Drebin Jr. who has followed in his father’s footsteps and has become a cop. Hitting the streets, your job is to find a missing councilman who has mysteriously disappeared after uncovering some sort of conspiracy.
Be prepared for plenty of crude humor which is a standard in the Naked Gun movie franchise. This game is also an episodic adventure series and what you are purchasing right now is the first episode called Date with Destiny. Future episodes will be available through this initial game.

So far, for us, the game has performed well and fits right into the Naked Gun theme. However, as seen in the comments on the market, some users are experiencing issues with the game. It seems mostly isolated to Samsung devices (SGSII) which are running the Exynos chipset from Samsung which is something that is pretty common with a lot of games. Why that is, we don’t know. Some other people with Tegra-based devices also seem to have issues but the game ran fine on ours.
Be prepared as well as there is a secondary download of around 150MB so if you are not sure about the functionality of this game on your device, wait for an update that fixes some bugs as you will surpass the refund time and with a price tag of $4.85, it is definitely something to consider before buying it.
Bugs aside, The Naked Gun I.C.U.P is a fun point-and-click adventure game that, if you are a fan of the films, you’ll appreciate. If you haven’t seen the films or are not a big fan of them, you might still enjoy this game for what it is, a humorous and fun adventure game to play. Bonus points for being fully voice acted as well. Hopefully DNA Interactive will address the bugs before releasing further episodes. There is definitely potential to have a really great series of Naked Gun games from DNA Interactive.
