Publisher and developer Devir is bringing the board game The Red Cathedral: Digital Edition to PC and mobile. The physical version of the game has sold more than 100,000 units. A turn-based strategy title, the game’s all about resource management.

Win the Tsar’s favour in The Red Cathedral: Digital Mobile Edition

The game is known for its rondel mechanism. It’s for 1 to 4 players, where you try to outdo everyone else while constructing a massive cathedral for Tsar Ivan the Terrible.

It starts with the Tsar ordering the cathedral to celebrate military victories. So, different groups of builders fight for prestige and for the Tsar’s approval.

The digital version sticks closely to the original board game. You first claim sections of the cathedral and then scramble around collecting and managing materials to build and decorate those areas.

There’s also the extra pressure of dealing with clergy influence and the various guilds in the city. Those systems can affect who pulls ahead. When construction finally wraps up, the player with the most prestige wins the match.

The Red Cathedral: Digital Mobile Edition supports cross-play for all platforms, so Android, iOS, PC, and Steam Deck players can all end up in the same match. You can play solo against AI, invite friends locally or online, or just throw yourself into games with random players.

The game includes three AI difficulty levels, including a custom AI system, so solo matches still feel like proper games. It also offers nearly unlimited replayability. Take a look at the game below.

The digital adaptation also comes with expanded artwork based on the original board game visuals. There’s a step-by-step tutorial as well. The Red Cathedral: Digital Mobile Edition listing is not up yet on Android, but you can check out the game on Steam.
