Tiny Death Star and Star Wars Assault Team Removed From Google Play

Two Star Wars games, Tiny Death Star and Star Wars Assault Team, have been removed from the Google Play Store, in a move to shift focus to “higher priority” games. This is referring to the recent Star Wars mobile release, Star Wars Commander.

Both games have been out for less than a year, with Assault Team being only five months old. Pocket Gamer, the source of this story, received word from Nimblebit, the developer of Tiny Death Star, that this action was done without notice. Tiny Death Star was a  “a significant source of revenue for us,” according to Ian Marsh of Nimble bit, “so it stings that much more.” For those who have been playing either games, they should still be available, just without any updates. It will not be possible for new players to join in on the intergalactic fun.

I can’t say I’m a fan of this move. In an industry that is solely based on digital games, it is disheartening to see how easily they can come and go.
