Kemco has dropped a new visual novel exclusively on Android. Titled Together We Live, it has a deep story that’s set in a post-apocalyptic world and deals with human sins and the journey of atonement. It’s already available on Steam for PC.

A Girl Atoning for Humans’ Sins

The protagonist of Together We Live is Kyoya who starts his journey in a very weird way. He wakes up one day wakes up in some dimly lit room and finds out that it’s the year 4000. It’s almost around 2000 years from what he last remembers.

Earth is now a desolate wasteland and there’s only a random girl who’s there to answer his questions. Although random, this girl that Kyoya meets has a mission, and it’s as heavy as it gets.

She’s stuck in a cycle where she dies repeatedly to atone for humanity’s sins. Dozens, hundreds, thousands of times.

Every time, she comes back to life, only to do it all over again. It’s brutal, and you can’t help but feel for her. Watching this unfold makes Kyoya want to teach her about happiness.

The pacing of the story might throw you off at first. It’s slow to get rolling. But once it picks up, the twists, turns and little details that seemed insignificant earlier come back in a big way.

If you want to take a look at Together We Live, here it is.

Together We Live Makes You Think

Unlike other visual novels, Together We Live doesn’t require you to make choices. It’s a straightforward interactive story with simple yet charming art. The mix of beauty and sadness in the story will hit you hard.

The girl in the story is fully voiced which is quite apt (and haunting in the best way). As of now, the game is available in English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese and there’s no controller support. It’s up for grabs on the Google Play Store at $9.99. If you have a Play Pass, you can play it for free.
