Toro and Friends: Onsen Town, a match-three puzzler that came out last year in Japan, is now available to pre-order in the West.
Developed by ForwardWorks, who also worked on the ill-fated mobile port of Disgaea, Toro and Friends: Onsen Town stars Toro, a mascot known as “Sony Cat” in Japan, but who is largely unknown to the rest of the world.

The game is a story-driven matching puzzler that also features Sora, Kuro, and several other characters known only to Japanese gamers. There’s a social component involving sendable hearts, stages that involve matching colorful fruits, and power-ups.
In other words, it’s a standard match-three puzzler that might be worth checking out if only to get a sense of the wider PlayStation experience in Japan.
