The popular puzzle game, Unpacking, is getting an official mobile version later this year. The news was first announced during Wholesome Direct 2023, but there is no official release date as of right now.
We assume that the mobile version will be available in the latter half of 2023. Furthermore, Unpacking will also be available on tablets too! For more information about the game, visit the official website or Steam page.
What is Unpacking?
Unpacking took the world by storm back in 2021 when it was first released. The Steam Next Fest demo was a huge success, and it managed to ramp up a ton of hype prior to its full launch. The blend of relaxing music, gorgeous art, and extremely satisfying gameplay is the perfect recipe for a cosy game.
The task of unpacking boxes is usually a mundane and laborious task, but in Unpacking, the act of taking out familiar possessions and placing them around a room scratches a certain part of our brains – in a good way.
Making a home look “lived in” rather than baron is the main goal of this puzzle game, but you still need to make sure you’re placing items where they should be. However, the puzzles are simple and easy to work through.
Why a Mobile Version is a Great Idea
We think a mobile version will work brilliantly. Unpacking isn’t a demanding game so it’s more than likely that it will run well on tablets and mobiles alike. Additionally, the opportunity to play it on a smaller device while commuting is a genius idea. It’s easy to hop in and out of a level, whether you’re on the bus, or relaxing in bed after a bath.
Unpacking provides you with that warm fuzzy feeling that you get when you get back home after a long day. As the saying goes, you make a house a home.
