Vikingard Yule Midwinter Event Kicks Off

Feature image for our Vikingard winter event news. It features one of Thor's goats, stood in front of a sleigh full of gifts, with a lightning bolt striking in the background.

Vikingard Yule has kicked off and runs until January. The in-game event gives you a chance to get hold of some exclusive festive goodies, with a little help from some magic goats.

The event gives a chance to pick up some exclusive items, costumes, and pets by taking part in its storyline.

Gifts And Goats

The Norse festival of Yule has come to the settlement of the Fharun Tribe, which should probably be a cause for celebration. Unfortunately, something’s not quite right. There are dangerous things in the forest, and the Yule Father seems to have disappeared.

Luckily, some magical sled-pulling animals are happy to help. We’re not talking about anything as played out as reindeer though. Instead, thunder god Thor’s goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjostr will be pitching in to help you collect ornaments for the Yule tree and tackle forest nasties.

The event marks the game’s reaching the end of its first year, and developers NetEase appear to be keen to end on a high note.

Dark Ages, But Casual

For the uninitiated, Vikingard is a casual RPG, set in a slightly more fantastical version of Dark Age Scandinavia.

You get dropped into the shoes of a budding chief of the Fharun Tribe, attempting to expand their influence across Europe in a period of strife.

The gameplay lets you do just about anything you’d expect a good Viking to do. Farming, fighting, raiding, and expanding your territory.

You’ll need to keep a hand on how your lands are doing, but you’ll be venturing out plenty, too.

You can find a suitable spouse, raise an heir, and even get a pet. We’re not certain the koala is historically accurate, but we’re not here for authentic reenactment. We’re here for thunder goats.

There’s a bit more details to check out via their official website.

Not really in a holiday mood? Fortunately, there are plenty of other things happening to keep you occupied. Check out our news on the Vampire Survivors Android release for something that’s more frightening than festive.
